How to Use

1. Open Capture from the main dashboard.

2. Allow screen, microphone, and camera permissions the first time you record.

3. Choose your source:

   • Screen + Cam

   • Camera Only

4. Set your crop mode (16:9, 1:1, or 9:16).

5. Adjust audio source, resolution, or Sync Offset as needed.

6. Click Start Recording to begin your capture.

7. After recording, save the raw file to your computer.

To review your waveform, press Spacebar to begin playback. Use the waveform as your guide:

• Red = Cut

• Green = Keep

• Orange = FastForward

Chunked Timelines
For videos over one hour, TimeBolt organizes your timeline into 45-minute chunks. Click Next Chunk to access additional segments. All chunks still render as a single exported file.

Audio Normalization Settings

If audio boundaries are unclear or flat, go to Settings → Volume Increase, then restart the app. The waveform will become more defined, making cuts easier.

Note: This enhancement affects preview only. Exported audio will retain original quality.

Change Preview Speed

Use the dropdown to set a default preview speed, such as 1.5x. Or press the L key repeatedly to preview up to 4x speed.

Preview Only What's Cut

Click 'Flip Timeline Selection' below the waveform to preview just the material to be cut. 

Click 'Flip Timeline Selection' to get back to your original timeline.

Any allowed cuts made are now green.

Save Timeline Cuts

• Click the Save Timeline Cuts (blue icon) below the waveform to export your cuts as a JSON file.
• To reopen a saved project, click Apply Timeline Cuts and select the JSON file.
• Only paid accounts can save their work.

TIPS

1. Playback stalls or stops:
   The video was likely recorded as Variable Frame Rate (VFR).

   • In Zoom, enable Optimize for 3rd-Party Editing Software before recording.

   • In PowerPoint, use OBS or TimeBolt Capture instead.

   • For existing files, re-encode using HandBrake at a Constant Frame Rate.

2. No zoom feature:
   Timeline zoom is not currently supported in Preview.

TimeBolt automatically detects silence and removes dead air from any recording. For most users, the default settings are already optimal.

Filter Below Sound Level

To capture more or less audio use 'Filter Below Sound Level' to raise or lower the detection threshold.

• Test values between –30 dB and –45 dB.

• Increase toward –30 dB to capture more audio.

• Decrease toward –45 dB to capture less.
  Avoid going outside this range.

Remove Silences Longer Than

Controls how many cuts are made. If you render inside TimeBolt, set this to 0.5 seconds or higher. A value below 0.5 can create too many cuts. To reduce cuts, try 0.75 seconds or more.

Ignore Detections Shorter Than

• Used to remove random mic strikes or filler sounds.
• Avoid settings above 0.75 seconds, which can cut off short connector words.
• To quickly check what’s in the red, click Flip Timeline Selection.

Left Padding

Do not use left / right padding to capture more or less audio. Use 'Filter Below Sound Level'.

• Adds a short buffer before you start speaking.
• Since audio is well-defined at speech onset, you can be aggressive: set Left Padding to 0.01 seconds (but never lower).

Right Padding

• Pads the end of a sentence to keep long “S” and “P” sounds intact.
• Keep Right Padding at 0.15 seconds + or risk clipping words.
• If using transitions, set Left and Right Padding to 0.10 seconds higher than your transition duration.

Click Update Silence Detection to apply your settings.

NOTE:

• If you run the same type of recordings through TimeBolt, you can turn off automatic filter detection settings in 'Settings'. 

• Right Padding below 0.15 can clip speech.

• MKV files are not supported.

• When using transitions, set Transition Duration = 0.10 and Left/Right Padding = 0.15 for smooth playback.

Umcheck is TimeBolt’s hybrid filler-word detection system. It combines local waveform analysis for silence and timing accuracy with AWS-based AI transcription for word-level precision. It is the only editor that lets you check and remove any unique word tick or phrase.

Accuracy That Wins

Pricing

Umcheck is not included in paid plans because the transcriptions it uses are time-coded by the millisecond, not by sentence. This precision is required for frame-accurate cuts.

How to Run Umcheck

1. Click the Umcheck icon, then select Start Audio Transcription.

2. Review the cost per minute and complete payment in the browser tab that opens.

3. After payment, allow about two minutes for every ten minutes of video. When processing is finished, your transcript and filler words will appear automatically in TimeBolt, and you will also receive a confirmation email.

4. Umcheck comes preloaded with common filler words. You can add your own by typing and separating with commas.

5. To exclude any detected word, double-click it in the Umcheck interface to deselect it and remove the red highlight.

6. Select Remove Repeats to clean up word stutters or repeated phrases.

7. Click Apply Timeline Cuts to remove all marked filler words inside TimeBolt.

Tip: You can also export a time-accurate SRT file to add captions in Final Cut, Premiere, CapCut, or Canva.

FastForward slow or repetitive sections when the goal is to show not tell.

Orange = segments in the timeline where playback is accelerated.

HOW TO USE

1. Select the 'FastForward Silences' checkbox.
2. Choose your playback speed from 0.5x to 4x, depending on how much faster or slower you want that section to play.
3. Click the bar above the playhead to turn scene from red --> green --> orange. 

AUTOMATIONS

• 'FastForward Cuts Longer Than' 10 seconds to speed up where you stop talking to demonstrate something. 
• 'Fast Forward Cuts' shorter than 2 seconds for clicking around in tutorials where order matters but can be sped up. 
• FastForward .5x is the only feature in TimeBolt to slow video down. Great for GoPro action videos.

Can You Export FastForward?

No. You cannot preview footage at sped up speed in TimeBolt preview. It plays just like any green part in Preview. 

Can I speed up my rate of speech over the entire video?

Punch instantly zooms in on key moments to add energy and focus to your shot.

• Press P to Punch in at 125%, 150%, or 175%.

• Use Alt/Cmd + Arrow Keys to position the zoom area.

• Press P three times to reset.

Alternative Method:
Right-click any clip, select your zoom amount, then choose the zoom area.

Custom Zoom Values:
Click the blue settings icon on the left and enter up to three custom zoom levels for Punch.

Can I export Punch in values?

Yes. Punch and zoom values export cleanly in XML, FCPXML, or through native Premiere and Resolve integrations.

Are Punch values automated?

No. But TimeBolt remembers your previous punch value that's applied when you click 'P' again.

How to Use:

• Click Add Background Audio and select an MP3 file.

• The track will loop automatically, regardless of video length.

• Set the volume percentage to balance your voice and music.

Tip: Keep background music subtle. 10–20% volume is ideal for clear voice and professional polish.

Use Markers to grab your best moments as they happen. Perfect for turning long videos into teaser reels or Shorts that hit fast.

How to Use:

• Press M to create a marker.

• Right-click → Remove Marker to delete.

Make a Short:

1. While previewing, press M to mark scenes.

2. Click Keep Only Marked Cuts to isolate highlights.

3. Render directly in TimeBolt or export Marked Clips XML to your editor.

4. To return to your full cut timeline, press Command + Z.

Tips:

1. Mark as you go. Build your highlight reel on the first pass. 
2. Do not edit markers or cut sections while in 'Keep only Marked Cuts'.  To switch back from Keep only Marked Cuts, click CMD/CNTL Z, make your edit, then click keep only marked cuts once again. 
3. While in 'Keep only Marked Cuts', you can save or render your timeline of just those marked cuts.

Type custom chapters for YouTube to organize your content and help viewers navigate faster.

How to Use:

• Right-click on a scene and type a description in the text field (no character limit).

• When finished, click the three-dot icon and select Download Chapters Text File.

• Click the link in TimeBolt to open the .txt file formatted for easy copy/paste into your YouTube description.

TIPS

1. If you’ve enabled Turbo Mode, download the corrected Chapters TXT file from the Turbo screen to ensure timestamps match your final speed.
2. Export individual segments by Chapter name as well.

Boost how fast you talk (words per minute). Or accelerate video to hit any time target and not sound like a chipmunk. 

How to Use:

• Click the three-dot icon and open Turbo Mode.

• Enter a speed multiplier or set a target duration to automatically adjust pacing.

• Example: To increase your words per minute by 10%, use a speed multiplier of 1.10.

• Click Add to Render Queue → Start Rendering to apply the boost.

TIPS

• If you’re using Markers to create YouTube chapters, timestamps will run slow with Turbo on. Open Turbo Mode again, click the three-dot icon, and generate a new chapters.txt file with Turbo timing included.

• Turbo Mode can be applied in Stitch to specific clips.

• Turbo Mode also supports time-accurate SRT export for captioning.

• Open your project and confirm cuts.
• Click on 3 Dots and Add to Render Queue as WAV.
• Or export WAV after applying Turbo Mode

XML Sequence Export works exactly like a standard XML export but with added power for dual-system and multi-track workflows.Use for multi-cam editing projects when you want speed without the Premiere Extension.

• Create a Source Sequence for each camera angle.
• Add synced audio to each.
• Open the Top-Level Sequence to see all angles cut and aligned.
• Mute or disable specific video tracks to isolate shots.

This workflow is faster than using the TimeBolt Premiere Extension, with the tradeoff of a slightly more manual setup.

1. Open your file with master audio (usually the separate mic recording) inside TimeBolt.
2. Run your edit — detect silence, remove filler, or apply FastForward/Punch as needed.
3. Click Export → XML Sequence instead of the standard XML option.
4. Import the exported XML file into Premiere Pro.
5. Your Media Pool will now include three new items:
• Source File
• Top-Level Sequence (actual cuts)
• Source Sequence (sequence containing the source file)

Common Use-Case: Separate Audio + Video

1. Record your camera video and external audio separately.
2. Open the audio file in TimeBolt for cleaner silence detection.
3. Export XML Sequence and import it into Premiere.
4. Open the Source Sequence (do not drag it onto the timeline).
5. Add your camera video into this Source Sequence and align it to start at 00:00.
6. Sync the audio and video manually if necessary.
7. When you open the Top-Level Sequence, all your media will now be cut, synced, and ready.

Why It Matters

• No resyncing: Cuts from your best audio track transfer perfectly to video.
• Multi-source ready: Add multiple cameras or mic tracks post-cut.
• Non-destructive: All source material remains intact for full flexibility.
• Speed: Reach a fully cut Premiere timeline in seconds.

TIPS

• Always double-click to open Sequences, do not drag them onto the timeline.
• The Source Sequence acts like a template. Any change or added clip automatically ripples through the Top-Level Sequence.
• Ensure your original source starts at 00:00; otherwise, timing may drift.
• If using multiple tracks, verify audio sync after import.
• XML Sequence exports are free, but require Premiere Pro 2022 or later for full compatibility.

Export a fully cut timeline into Final Cut Pro (FCPX). Each cut appears with full drag-handle control, ready for precision editing or post-production work.

Multi-Track Video

For multi-track video or audio projects, use the FCPXML Multi-Cam option to export all tracks properly.

Process:

In TimeBolt

1. Click Export → FCPXML.

2. Locate the .fcpxml file in your Render Queue.

In Final Cut Pro

1. Open your library or create a new one.

2. Go to File → Import → XML…

3. Select the exported .fcpxml file.

4. Choose an Event (or create one) and click Import.

5. Open the imported project timeline and start editing.

Keeping Silence

To detect silence but keep every cut in your timeline, go to Settings → Create Splits but Don’t Delete Detected Silence.

Note: Punch in/out and FastForward Silences are both included in FCPXML exports.

FCPXML Errors & Fixes:

Problem: “FCPXML can’t be found.”
Possible Causes:

1. The file or folder name includes odd characters (like %, !, #, or _). Rename the file or folder and re-export.

2. Final Cut’s search can’t locate the source file. Relocate the raw video file to a simpler directory (for example, your Desktop) and reopen.

3. The source video was recorded with a Variable Frame Rate (VFR). Re-record or convert to Constant Frame Rate (CFR) for proper syncing. (Zoom has a “Use for 3rd-Party Editor” setting to enable this.)

Open a synced multi-cam sequence directly in Final Cut Pro. Perfect for interviews, podcasts, and multi-camera YouTube shoots.

How It Works

In TimeBolt:
Go to Export → FCPXML Multi-Cam.
TimeBolt exports a fully cut XML timeline with drag handles ready for Final Cut Pro.

In Final Cut Pro:
In Final Cut, choose File → Import → XML.
Open your project timeline, and every cut from TimeBolt appears perfectly synced.

Add Camera Angles and Master Audio

• Inside the Multi-Cam Clip, add new angles for each camera and label them (for example, Camera A, Camera B, Audio).
• Copy your master audio into its own angle and set it as the monitoring source.
• Sync all cameras to the master audio using Sync Selection to Monitoring Angle.

Switch Angles Seamlessly

• Open the Multi-Cam Viewer (Command + Shift + 7).
• Use number keys (1, 2, 3, and so on) to switch camera angles live during playback.
• Keep the audio constant or switch both video and audio together.

Detect Cuts But Don't Delete Silence

To detect silence but keep every split for manual review, go to Settings → Create Splits Only (don’t delete detected silence). Then export FCPXML Multi-Cam for full drag-handle control inside Final Cut.

Troubleshooting

If Final Cut says the XML cannot be found:

1. Check for odd characters in your file or folder name (% ! # & _ etc.).

2. Rename the file and re-import.

3. Move your source file closer to the root directory, such as the Desktop.

4. If you recorded with variable frame rate, convert or re-record using constant frame rate.

Use the TimeBolt Extension for projects that involve multiple camera angles or multi-track video and audio.

For single-timeline projects, export a standard XML.

For dual-system audio or single master video/audio sync, use XML Sequence instead.

How to Install the TimeBolt Extension

1. Download the Extension

2. Install with the ZXP Installer

• Download the ZXP Installer for your system (Mac or Windows).
• Open the program, select Premiere Pro from the side panel, and drag and drop the TimeBolt Extension .zxp file into the installer.

3. Locate the Extension in Premiere Pro

• Open Premiere and go to: Window → Extensions → TimeBolt Extension

How to Operate the Extension

1. Save Timeline Cuts in TimeBolt
Click Save Timeline Cuts inside TimeBolt.
This saves your edits as a .JSON file.

2. Apply Cuts in Premiere
In the TimeBolt Extension panel, apply the JSON file to each corresponding video and audio track.

Ensure your master audio starts at 00:00 in the Premiere timeline before applying.

3. Cut the Extra
After the extension applies your cuts, silences and removed clips are stacked at the end of the timeline. Select and bulk delete them to clean up the sequence.

If ZXP Installer Won’t Work:

• You must use the official AEScripts ZXP Installer.

• Other installers are incompatible and will fail.

• Note: The AEScripts ZXP Installer is separate from the AE Scripts Plugin Manager.

Extension Loads But Doesn’t Respond:
Do a complete reinstall of TimeBolt:

1. Delete the TimeBolt program.

2. Delete both folders:

   • Documents → TimeBoltData

   • Documents → TimeBoltScratchPath

3. Empty Trash and Restart your computer.

4. Reinstall TimeBolt using the official download link.

To Install

How to Use

Do all your timeline cut work inside TimeBolt first. Then save your edits as a .json and apply in Resolve.

Steps

1. Open your video file in TimeBolt and adjust cuts as needed.

2. Click Save Timeline Cuts to export a .json file.

3. Open DaVinci Resolve and create a new project.

4. Add your source video file to the timeline.

5. Go to Workspace → Scripts → Comp → TimeBoltResolveIntegration.

6. Click Apply JSON File, then navigate to your saved .json file.

7. Click Open — your cuts will instantly apply in Resolve.

   • Both video and audio cuts are now linked and ready to edit.

If the script doesn’t appear, verify that it’s installed in the Fusion → Scripts → Comp directory and restart Resolve.

DaVinci Resolve Master Class

Export your TimeBolt cuts into a Camtasia project file without re-rendering. TimeBolt writes your edit decisions back into a TSCPROJ (Windows) or CMPROJ (Mac), so you keep Camtasia’s full timeline control.

How to Export

For Windows (TSCPROJ)

1. Open Camtasia.

2. Import your source media (for example, video.mp4).

3. Drop it on the timeline and align at 0:00.

4. Save Project as a TSCPROJ.

5. Open TimeBolt, load the same media, make your cuts.

6. In Export, choose TSCPROJ.

7. When the dialog opens, double-click into the TSCPROJ folder and select the actual TSCPROJ file.

8. TimeBolt overwrites the project with your cuts. Reopen the TSCPROJ in Camtasia to continue editing.

For Mac (CMPROJ)

1. Open Camtasia.

2. Import your source media (for example, video.mp4).

3. Place it on the timeline and align at 0:00.

4. Save Project as a CMPROJ.

5. Open TimeBolt, load the same media, make your cuts.

6. In Export, choose TSCPROJ (Mac compatible).

7. In the dialog, select the CMPROJ you saved.

8. TimeBolt overwrites the project with your cuts. Reopen the CMPROJ in Camtasia to continue editing.

Notes

• This workflow is non-destructive: TimeBolt writes cut instructions into the Camtasia project; you still edit natively in Camtasia afterward.

• Works for both TSCPROJ (Windows) and CMPROJ (Mac) formats.

Got Ya’s

• On Windows, the export picker may show a TSCPROJ folder. Double-click into it to choose the real project file inside.

• Always align media at 0:00 before saving the Camtasia project you plan to overwrite.

• If you run into sync drift later, check for Variable Frame Rate in the original recording and convert to Constant Frame Rate before re-exporting.

Front-load the action and join multiple videos into a single export with full control. Stitch lets you apply your saved TimeBolt cuts (JSON) to each segment, reorder clips, preview, and render one finished MP4. You only render once.

How to Use Stitch

1. Edit each segment in TimeBolt and click Save Timeline Cuts. This saves a JSON file you’ll apply in Stitch.

2. Click the blue Stitch icon to open Stitch.

3. Add your files, then drag to reorder if needed.

4. Apply JSON cuts to each segment and Preview. For pre-produced intro/outro clips, skip JSON. Preview reflects saved cuts, including Punch and FastForward.

5. Apply Turbo Mode to any segment before export. Turbo won’t display in Preview but is applied during export.

6. Export in your chosen format. Stitch renders a single MP4. If you created YouTube chapters, use the three-dot icon to download the chapters text file.

Notes

• Stitch’s purpose is to join multiple pre-cut clips quickly while honoring your TimeBolt edits from JSON, so you don’t render the same source twice.

• A quick teaser workflow: use Markers to keep only highlights, save as a JSON, then Stitch highlights + intro/outro into one teaser.

Save time by automatically cutting silence from multiple recordings at once. Perfect to process large folders of Zoom meetings, podcasts, or training videos.

How It Works

1. Click Utilities → Batch Processing.

2. Select the folder containing all your video files.

3. Choose Select All Videos to include every file in the folder.

4. TimeBolt applies your most recently used settings.

5. Click Start and let TimeBolt process each video automatically.

• TimeBolt remembers your last used silence detection, padding, and automation settings for batch jobs.

• All videos in the batch export to the same folder with identical cut logic applied.

Banger turns your video into a shareable link with a GIF preview in seconds. Think Loom, but doesn't suck to watch. 

How to Use Banger

1. Capture with TimeBolt
Record your screen, webcam, or both using Capture.

2. Save the File
When prompted, Save File to confirm your recording and prep it for editing or sending.

3. Send as a Banger
Next to Add to Render Queue, click the Banger Icon. TimeBolt will render and instantly generate an unlisted video link.

Copy the link to your clipboard and share it via email, Slack, or any messenger.

4. Track Views
Each Banger link displays a total view count, so you can see when it’s been watched.

Privacy and Access

• Your Banger link is unlisted — only people with the link can view it.

• Bangers can be up to 14 minutes long with paid account.

• TimeBolt cannot access or recover old Banger links. Each is private to your account.

• Links remain active for 30 days after creation.

• Bangers from free accounts are watermarked, and limited to 4 minutes. 
• Lifetime accounts do not have Banger feature.
